Jeff Davis (drummer)

Jeff Davis is an American drummer and composer of modern creative jazz , of York in the new jazz scene is active.

Live and act

Davis, who is from Greeley, Colorado , started playing marimba when he was nine . He later studied classical percussion at the University of Northern Colorado . He was already working with Art Lande and Ron Miles in Colorado . He received his master's degree from the Manhattan School of Music . Since 2002 Davis performed in New York City and took a. a. with Eivind Opsvik , Kris Davis , Peter van Huffel , Tony Malaby , Jon Irabagon and Samuel Blaser ; He also founded his own band projects, such as We Sleep Outside (album of the same name in 2006, including with Kirk Knuffke , Kris Davis and Eivind Opsvik), the Jeff Davis Band and the Jeff Davis New Trio , with Russ Lossing and Opsvik. He also played with Jesse Stacken , Michael Bates , Ben Holmes , Pascal Niggenkemper , Pedro Giruado , Pete Robbins and Ryan Keberle . In the field of jazz he was involved in 25 recording sessions between 2000 and 2011. He toured China and Europe and presented his playing at festivals such as the North Sea Jazz Festival , the Oslo Jazz Festival , the Vancouver Jazz Festival and the Earshot Jazz Festival.

He is not to be confused with the gospel drummer of the same name.
