Jennifer Ruth Greti Oehrli (born January 13, 1989 in Bern ) is a Swiss football player .

Life

Jennifer Oehrli grew up with her younger sister in Zollbrück , Switzerland , in the canton of Bern . Her godmother and godfather are Cypriots and she often spends her holidays in Cyprus . She attended the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce in La Neuveville (business school) and successfully completed her vocational baccalaureate. She plays football as a semi-professional and worked as a commercial clerk in the FC Basel office until she moved to Germany . In addition to football, she studied sports psychology at the Université de Neuchâtel in Neuenstadt , Switzerland .

Club football

Oehrli started playing football through her two-year-old cousin. She began playing football in the same junior team at FC Zollbrück. She played as a striker . When she was called up for the selection training of the U14 Bern / Jura selection, she suddenly played in goal because only one goalkeeper was present. So she played in the club as a field player and in the selection as a goalkeeper until she was asked in 2003 by SC Worb to play in the girls' youth team U-18 as a goalkeeper. Just a year later, when the first team of SC Worb reached promotion to the Swiss National League B (NLB) , they were asked to join them. When she was just sixteen, Jennifer played the entire season in the NLB.

In summer 2006 she left SC Worb and moved to the National League A (NLA) for FFC Zuchwil 05 . During her time at Zuchwil, she gained international experience, playing in the Women's Champions League from 2006-07 and 2007-08 . She was able to celebrate the league cup victory, the Swiss championship title and was a cup finalist in the 2006-07 season.

After three years with Zuchwil, she moved to league rivals FC Thun . A year later, she went to league rivals FC Basel in June 2010. She scored her first goal in the NLA with a penalty during the 10-0 home win against GC Frauen on May 22, 2011. On June 21, 2013, the two-footed goalkeeper left FC Basel and moved to BV Cloppenburg , who had been promoted to the German Bundesliga . After she was unable to play at BV Cloppenburg due to an injury, Oehrli returned to FC Basel in winter 2014 . After a year at Basel, Oehrli moved again and signed on January 15, 2015, with BSC Young Boys , where Oehrli made 25 missions in two and a half years.

On July 25, 2018, the women's department of Atlético Madrid announced the signing of the goalkeeper, who will also become a teammate of her compatriot Viola Calligaris .

Selection teams

Oehrli played in seven international matches for the Swiss U-17 team between 2004 and 2006. On March 3, 2010, the goalkeeper made her A international debut for Switzerland against the Netherlands . After Marisa Brunner's resignation from the national team, Oehri became number 1. She played her first game as number 1 on May 5, 2010 against France . She suffered a broken forearm while playing in the Cyprus Cup on March 13, 2013 against New Zealand .

Beach soccer

In addition to professional football, Oehrli also played for the Beach Soccer Team from Bern , the Sable Dancers, in the Summer League in 2010 .
