Jenny Beavan

Jenny Beavan , OBE (* 1950 in London , England ) is a British costume designer .

Life

Beavan began her film career in 1978 as a costume designer for James Ivory's television film The Big Hustle and bustle of Georgie's and Bonnie's pictures, shot in India . Ivory then engaged her for his other films The Europeans , Jane Austen in Manhattan and The Ladies from Boston . For the latter, Beavan received BAFTA Award and Oscar nominations . In 1987 they won an Oscar for their next feature film, Zimmer mit Aussicht ; She received further Oscar nominations for the joint films Maurice , Reunion in Howards End and What Was Left of the Day . Jefferson in Paris was their last film together in 1995.

She received further Oscar nominations for Ang Lee's literary adaptation Sense and Sensibility , Anna and the King , Robert Altman's Gosford Park and the British period film The King's Speech . In 2016 she received her second Oscar for her work on Mad Max: Fury Road . Her other awards include numerous nominations, an Emmy , a Saturn Award and two BAFTA Awards. In 2017 she was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire .
