Jens Dowe (born June 1, 1968 in Rostock ) is a former football player in the GDR Oberliga and the Bundesliga .
career
Dowe learned to play football at home with FC Hansa Rostock before moving to BSG KKW Greifswald at the age of 19 . From 1989 to 1994 and between 1997 and 1999 he played again as a midfielder in the dress of Hansa Rostock. He played 34 games in the GDR league during the fall of the Berlin Wall and scored five goals. After winning the NOFV Oberliga championship and the FDGB Cup 90/91, he qualified with Hansa directly for the European Cup and the Bundesliga. In 1992 he had to relegate to the 2nd Bundesliga with Hansa Rostock .
In 1994 Dowe moved to the first division club TSV 1860 Munich , due to financial difficulties at FC Hansa, for whom he played 51 games and scored four goals in two years. In the 1996/97 season he played for three clubs. At first he played for Hamburger SV , but was only used there four times. In October 1996 he went to England on loan to second division Wolverhampton Wanderers for £ 200,000 and at the turn of the year moved to the Austrian Bundesliga for SK Sturm Graz , with whom he even won the ÖFB Cup .
Dowe then went back to Hansa Rostock on the Baltic Sea in 1997 and, at the end of the season, had his best Bundesliga placement with sixth place. The following season was less successful with the close relegation. The SK Rapid Wien signed him in 1999, and he remained in Austria until 2001, occupied once the third and even the second place. In 2002 he moved to the then surprise promoter SV Babelsberg 03 in the 2nd Bundesliga. Babelsberg immediately relegated to the regional league , and so he went to the third division Holstein Kiel , where he played until 2004.
After that, Dowe originally wanted to train together with René Schneider at the national league club SV Warnemünde and get involved in their football school. After a few games, however, he followed the call of the fourth division club SV Wilhelmshaven and moved to the Oberliga Nord . After only four games, however, he dissolved his contract after public criticism of the club's work and hired under the former Rostock assistant coach Jürgen Decker at TSG Neustrelitz in the Oberliga Nordost .
On January 16, 2006, Dowe moved to the coaching bench and replaced Andreas Zachhuber as coach at Greifswalder SV 04 ( Association League Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ), but was dismissed there on May 2, 2006, after Zachhuber's resignation as assistant coach at MSV Duisburg . In 2007 Dowe was initially assistant coach in the youth division of FC Hansa Rostock, before he took on the same position in the second team under Axel Rietentiet in March 2009 , which he held until June 2009. Thereupon Dowe was first coach of the Rostock C-youth team and moved up in the summer of 2010 in the B-youth team. In the 2010/11 season this then rose from the U-17 Bundesliga to the regional league , which is why Dowes' contract, which expired in the summer of 2011, was no longer extended.
In September 2012 he became a coach at the Mecklenburg upper division club SV Waren 09 , after having worked for the state division Güstrower SC 09 since July 2012. At the end of the 2012/13 season, Dowe and the Waren parted again. In July 2013 he returned to the youth department of Hansa Rostock and took over the U13. In the 2014/15 season he again took over the coaching position at SV Waren 09. 2016/17 he was coach of FC Pommern Stralsund . In November 2018 he took over the organization division Rostock FC 1895 , which he led to the first-time promotion to the Oberliga North East 2020th
Overall, Dowe denied:
- 34 GDR league games (5 goals)
- 143 Bundesliga appearances (16 goals)
- 93 second division appearances (16 goals)
- 63 third division appearances (3 goals)
