René Schneider (born February 1, 1973 in Schwerin ) is a former German soccer player .

Athletic career

Club career

During his active time, he first played in the youth team for BSG Motor Schwerin , ISG Schwerin and 1. FC Magdeburg , to which he was delegated in 1985 when he switched to the children's and youth sports school. After first appearances in the men's division at FCM, including in the top division of GDR football , the following positions followed in professional football after a year at BSV Brandenburg : Hansa Rostock , Borussia Dortmund , Hamburger SV and VfL Osnabrück .

Selection bets

Between 1995 and 1996, the then Rostock player played eight games in the German U-21 team , in which he scored one goal. With the team he took part in the Junior European Championships in 1996 . By being out in the quarterfinals , participation in the 1996 Olympic soccer tournament in Atlanta was missed.

For the German national team , he played an international match against South Africa on December 15, 1995 . He was also in the squad of national coach Berti Vogts for the European championship in 1996 , but was not used. After being called to the German national team, he moved to Dortmund the following summer, where he was unable to assert himself in the long term due to injuries.

Further career

From July 2016 to December 2017, Schneider was director of sports at third division club Hansa Rostock.

Football school and support team

The former professional soccer player and holder of the DFB coaching license has been running his own soccer school since 2003. It is unique in Germany that the school's junior teams have been taking part in regular Rostock game play since 2007. All ages from the Bambini to the U 23 started as FC conveyor squad René Schneider in the season. Since the summer of 2009, the U-23 has also started playing there. FC FK will play in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Football Association in the 2019/20 season .
