Jerome Noel "Jerry" Jumonville (born December 5, 1941 in New Orleans ; † December 7, 2019 there ) was an American jazz , rhythm & blues and studio musician ( tenor saxophone ).

Live and act

Jumonville grew up in New Orleans; The first recordings were made in the mid-1960s with the R&B formation The Prime Ministers ( Read 'Em and Weep ). He then moved to California, where he worked as a studio musician a. a. participated in recordings of stars like Rod Stewart ("Tonight's the Night", 1976). As an arranger and musician, he also worked with Ringo Starr , Van Morrison , the Doobie Brothers , The Beach Boys , Dr. John , Bonnie Raitt , Rickie Lee Jones , Nicolette Larson , Dusty Springfield , Dave Mason ,Duane Allman , Johnny Rivers and Rodney Crowell , Kris Kristofferson , Rita Coolidge , Big Joe Turner , Gatemouth Brown , King Curtis , Freddie King and Delaney and Bonnie . He also appeared in the rock documentary Festival Express , in 1979 with Lowell George and in Bette Midler's film The Rose (1979). As a musician, he was also seen in the film Blueberry Hill (1988, directed by Strathford Hamilton ).

In the field of jazz, he was involved in ten recording sessions between 1965 and 2004, according to Tom Lord , from the late 1990s in his hometown with Johnny Angel and with Ronnie Magri and His New Orleans Jazz Band. After his debut album Jump City (1986) he recorded the album You Are My Dream in 2004 as a quartet .
