Jerzy Lefeld

Jerzy Lefeld (born January 17, 1898 in Warsaw , † February 22, 1980 ) was a Polish composer, pianist and music teacher.

Lefeld had piano lessons with Laura Sawicka from the age of eight , and from 1908 he attended the Warsaw Music Academy . Here he studied piano with Aleksander Michałowski and composition with Roman Statkowski . From 1917 to 1939 he taught piano at the Warsaw Conservatory, first in the lower and middle courses, and from 1926 on reading scores. In 1933 he received the title of professor. In addition, he worked from 1924 to 1926 in the experimental radio studio in Warsaw, then at the Polish radio a. a. as a member of the radio orchestra.

During the Second World War Lefeld worked as a music teacher and performed as a pianist in Salon Sztuki of Bolesław Woytowicz on. From 1945 to 1971 he led the piano class at the State Music Academy in Warsaw. During that time he trained more than 40 concert pianists. His students included u. a. Witold Lutosławski , Stefan Kisielewski and Witold Małcużyński .

Lefeld was also a sought-after piano accompanist. Between 1917 and 1926 he gave more than 100 concerts with the violinist Stanisław Barcewicz . Furthermore he entered u. a. with the singers Stanisław Korwin-Szymanowski , Ada Sari , Ewa Bandrowska-Turska , Wanda Wermińska , Viktor Brégy , Wiktoria Kotulak , Alfred Orda , Bogdan Paprocki , Andrzej Hiolski , Stefania Woytowicz and Jerzy Artysz , the violinist Karl Flesch , Ida Haendel , Zino Francescatti , Ruggiero Ricci , Irena Dubiska , Eugenia Umińska , Paweł Kochański , Wanda Wiłkomirska and Konstanty Andrzej Kulka , with Paul Hindemith (as violist) and the cellist Eli Kochański, as well as in piano duos with Roman Maciejewski , Maria Wiładysław and Marwełiecki Trunki , Pawełiecki Trysti , Władysław Szawita -Kazuro on.
