Jevohn Tyrone Shepherd (born April 8, 1986 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a Canadian basketball player of Jamaican descent. After studying in the neighboring United States , the Canadian international became a professional and played for the first time in Europe in the 2010/11 season with the German second division team in Osnabrück and with the Skyliners Frankfurt in the top division basketball Bundesliga . After winning the title in the Dutch championship in 2012 with ZZ Leiden, Shepherd played in Romania and since 2013 in Italy . After two years in the second and third division, Shepherd will play in the 2015/16 season for the first division and traditional club from Varese, which won multiple European Cups in the 1970s . Shepherd was with the national team of Canada in the finals of the 2010 Basketball World Cup and the 2011 and 2013 American Championships .

Career

From 2005 to 2009 Shepherd went for four years for the NCAA team Wolverines of the University of Michigan on baskets hunting. He then played for the Halifax Rainmen in the US Premier Basketball League . From the start of the 2010/2011 season to March 2011 he played in the German second division Pro A for the GiroLive-Ballers Osnabrück . He then moved to the first basketball league with the Skyliners from Frankfurt until the end of the season in May . For the following season 2011/12 he received a contract with the reigning Dutch champions Zorg en Zekerheid from Leiden . Here he celebrated winning the national cup in 2012. Other club stations followed in Romania, Italy, Belgium and France. He has currently been playing for French second division club SLUC Nancy Basket since January 2018 .

With the Canadian national team he was a participant in the 2010 World Cup, which ended with a disappointment after five defeats in the preliminary round against the Lebanese national basketball team without a single win. The 2011 American Championship also ended disappointingly with sixth place, as only fifth place, which the Venezuelan national team achieved, would have qualified for participation in the pre-Olympic qualifying tournament for London 2012 . By 2013 he had completed a total of 20 international matches and was not nominated after that.
