Yevgeny Ivanovich Shemyakin

Yevgeny Ivanovich Schemjakin ( Russian Евгений Иванович Шемякин ; born December 9, 1929 in Novosibirsk , † February 17, 2009 in Moscow ) was a Russian physicist and university professor .

Life

Shemyakin studied at the Leningrad University with degree in 1952. After postgraduate he defended in 1955 his candidate dissertation on transient disturbances in plastic solids and research assistant was the Moscow Institute of Chemical Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (AN SSSR, 1991 Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN)). With his experimental and theoretical investigations of plastic deformation and the shattering of solids by impact and explosion, he established a new direction of research. He received his doctorate in physical-mathematical sciences .

In 1960, Shemjakin became head of the laboratory at the Institute for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the Siberian Department (SO) of the AN-SSSR in Novosibirsk. In 1963 he became a member of the CPSU .

1972 Shemyakin was the successor Nikolai Andreyevich Tschinakals director of the Institute of Mountain Sciences of the SO the AN SSSR in Novosibirsk. In 1976 he was elected a corresponding member of the AN-SSSR. 1980–1985 he was vice chairman of the SO of the AN-SSSR. He founded the Siberian Geomechanics School. In 1984 he was elected a full member of the AN-SSSR. When Shemyakin left the director's office in 1987, Mikhail Vladimirovich Kurlenja was his successor.

1987-1992 Shemjakin was as the successor to Viktor Grigoryevich Kirillow-Ugrjumows Chairman of the Higher Attestation Commission (WAK) for the award of higher academic degrees in the Soviet Union . In addition, he headed the chair for waves and gas dynamics at Lomonossow University Moscow (MGU). After Shemjakin, Nikolai Vasilyevich Karlov was chairman of the WAK. In 1993, Shemjakin became a full member of the non-state Russian Academy of Sciences . He was a member of the Academy of Mountain Sciences in Moscow and advisor to the Institute for Dynamics of the Geosphere of the RAN.

Shemyakin was married and had two children. He was buried in the Trojekurovo cemetery.
