Under the influence of Alexander Benua and Konstantin Somow , Yevgeny Lansere developed a style that combined elements of Baroque art with the ornamentation of Art Nouveau . At first he mainly worked as an illustrator of magazines and books, often on historical topics, which he tried to reproduce with documentary accuracy. He illustrated works by Lev Tolstoy , Alexander Gribojedow and Friedrich Schiller , among others . In addition, he dealt with poster art, industrial graphics and the design of postcards.
