Yevgeny Nikolajewitsch Koschewoi ( Kazakh Евгений Николаевич Кошевой ; born October 6, 1984 in Shchuchinsk , Zelinograd Oblast , Kazakh SSR , Soviet Union ) is a former Kazakh cross-country skier .

Career

Koschewoi first appeared at the Junior World Championships in 2001 in Karpacz, Poland , when he was 62nd in the sprint. The following year he was 32nd over ten kilometers in free technique at the Junior World Championships in Schonach in the Black Forest . In the mass start race over 30 kilometers in the classic technique he finished 44th and sprint he finished 46th. He had his first international successes at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2003 in Sollefteå and at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2004 in Stryn . There he won the silver medal over 10 km. With the Kazakh cross-country relay, he was even able to win the world championship title in Stryn. He was also 13th in the sprint in Sollefteå and 30th in the mass start race over 30 kilometers in the free technique and in Stryn 18th in the sprint and 19th in the mass start race over 30 kilometers in the classic technique.

He ran his first World Cup race in November 2004 in Gällivare , which he finished classically in 67th place over 15 km. At the Winter Universiade 2005 in Innsbruck he won the gold medal in the sprint and was fifth over ten kilometers in free technique and over 30 kilometers in classic technique. In February 2005 he finished 22nd place in the sprint at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2005 in Oberstdorf , tenth place with the relay and seventh place together with Nikolai Tschebotko in the team sprint. In January 2006 he got his first World Cup points with sixth place in the sprint in Oberstdorf. This was also his best individual result in the World Cup. In his first Olympic participation in Turin in 2006 he came in 14th place in the sprint, 13th place with the relay and sixth place together with Nikolai Chebotko in the team sprint. The following year he won the bronze medal in the sprint at the 2007 Winter Asian Games in Jilin . At the 2007 Italian Pragelato Winter Universiade , he was seventh in the sprint and 19th over ten kilometers in free technique. In February 2007 he was tested positive for testosterone during a training control and was then banned by the FIS for two years. All results that he achieved at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Sapporo in 2007 were retrospectively canceled. His first World Cup race after the suspension he ran at the beginning of the 2009/10 season in Beitostølen , which he finished in 11th place with the relay. At the Tour de Ski 2009/10 he came in 38th place. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , he came 52nd in the sprint. In February 2013, he achieved 42nd place in the sprint at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 in Val di Fiemme . He ran his last World Cup races in January 2014 in Nové Město . Doert he finished 63rd in the sprint and 23rd place together with Alexander Malyshev in the team sprint. He then ran in the Eastern Europe Cup and FIS races until December 2015 , before ending his career.
