Evgeny Alexandrowitsch Kowaljow ( Russian Евгений Александрович Ковалёв , English Evgeny Kovalev ; born March 6, 1989 in Moscow , Soviet Union ) is a Russian track and road cyclist . He is particularly successful in the team pursuit on the track.
Athletic career
Yevgeny Kovalyov won the gold medal in the individual time trial at the European Youth Festival in Lignano in 2005 . In 2007 he was in Aguascalientes with Alexander Petrowski junior world champion in two-man team driving and vice world champion in single and team pursuit.
In the following years, Kowaljow won several medals in the team pursuit at junior and U23 European railway championships. In 2010 he became vice European champion in the team pursuit together with Alexei Markow , Iwan Kowaljow , and Alexander Serow , and in 2011 he was vice world champion with the same drivers . The Russian four-man won four times with Kowaljow in its ranks of the Track Cycling World Cup ( as of 2018 ).
His older brother Ivan Kovalev is also a cyclist. At times they start in the team pursuit in the same team.
