João Mamede Filho

João Mamede Filho OFMConv (born August 21, 1951 in Caçapava ) is a Brazilian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Umuarama .

Life

João Mamede Filho joined the religious order of the Minorites and made profession on February 20, 1974. On April 21, 1978, he received from Claudio Hummes OFM , then Bishop of Santo André , the ordination .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on April 26, 2006 titular bishop of Aquae Albae in Mauretania and auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of São Paulo . The Archbishop of São Paulo, Cláudio Cardinal Hummes OFM, donated him episcopal ordination on July 1st of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Fernando Mason OFMConv, Bishop of Piracicaba , and Carmo João Rhoden SCI , Bishop of Taubaté . As a motto he chose No Evangelho força de Deus (“in the gospel of God's power”).

On November 24, 2010, he was appointed Bishop of Umuarama. Pope Francis appointed him on November 20, 2019 in addition to the up to 15 August of the following year lasting period of Vacant See the Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Maringa .
