Joachim Friedrich Schmidt (born January 20, 1670 in Königsberg / Neumark ; † December 11, 1724 in Pasewalk ) was a Lutheran theologian and general superintendent in Pomerania .

Joachim Friedrich Schmidt was born as the son of the Königsberg mayor Joachim Schmidt and Dorothea Lorbeer from Bärwalde in the Neumark . First he attended the school in his hometown, then he went to the council school in Stettin and the grammar school in Berlin . In 1688 Schmidt began studying theology at the University of Wittenberg , which he continued at the newly founded University in Halle .

In 1694 he took over the post of rector in Pyritz in Pomerania. He obtained the degree of licentiate at the University of Greifswald on October 25, 1702 and a doctorate on June 25, 1704. On April 24, 1704 Joachim Friedrich Schmidt took over the office of Rector of the Gröning College in Stargard in Pomerania . Ten years later he was appointed pastor at the Johanniskirche and at the same time was appointed consistorial councilor.

Finally, on June 9, 1720, Schmidt was introduced after his appointment as general superintendent for Pomerania and succeeded David Nerreter . He had only four years of service in this office until he died at the age of 54. On January 25, 1725, Schmidt was buried in St. Mary's Church in Stettin . He was succeeded by Laurentius David Bollhagen . Schmidt had been married to Johanna Christine Ruel, daughter of the doctor of medicine and Köslin mayor Christoph Friedrich Ruel, since May 22, 1705 .
