Joachim Paul (born July 10, 1970 in Bendorf ) is a German high school teacher and politician ( AfD ). He is deputy chairman of the AfD parliamentary group in the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament . He has also been Deputy Chairman of the AfD parliamentary group in the Koblenz City Council since 2015 . At the federal party conference in Braunschweig in 2019, Paul was elected as a member of the federal executive committee.

Life

Paul is a member of the old Breslau fraternity of the Raczeks in Bonn. Most recently he worked as a teacher at the Ludwig-Erhard-Schule (BBS) in Neuwied .

Paul is the first deputy chairman of the AfD district association Koblenz. At the state level, he was the coordinator of State Committee 6 (Education and Culture) and the state secretary of his party. Since 2015 he has been deputy state chairman of the AfD Rhineland-Palatinate ; he was elected with 107 votes out of 127. He was confirmed in this office in 2017.

Since September 2015 he has been a member of the Koblenz City Council for the AfD ; In the municipal elections in Rhineland-Palatinate in 2014 , the AfD received 4.2 percent of the vote. There he works on the social, cultural and school board committee. He retired in 2016 state elections in Rhineland-Palatinate as a list candidate (2nd place) in the Landtag of Rhineland-Palatinate one. As a direct candidate in the Koblenz constituency (constituency 9), he achieved 8.5 percent of the first votes behind the competitors from the SPD , CDU and Greens .

Until November 12, 2019, he was chairman of the committee for media, digital infrastructure and network policy and is a full member of the committee for education and the intermediate committee as well as a deputy member of the committee for science, further education and culture. On November 12th, he was voted out of committee chairman by the other parliamentary groups for “ right-wing extremist ideas”. Among other things, he is said to have written under the pseudonym “Karl Ludwig Sand” for the NPD organ “ here & now - radically right-wing magazine ”.

At the AfD federal party conference, Paul announced that he wanted to send women wearing the burkini "back to Pakistan ". He referred to the public broadcasters as "state radio", which should be abolished or "significantly reduced".
