Job Wilhelm David Karl Heinrich von Witzleben (born August 4, 1813 in Kynau , † April 21, 1867 in Glogau ) was a Prussian major general and owner of the Łyszkowo manor .

Life

Job von Witzleben came from the Thuringian noble family von Witzleben and was the eldest son of Lieutenant General and Minister of War Job von Witzleben (1783-1837) and his wife Auguste Henriette, née von Splittgerber.

Military career

Witzleben attended the monastery school in Roßleben from 1826 to 1831 and began his military career on November 20, 1831 as a gunner in the Guard Artillery Brigade of the Prussian Army . On July 18, 1833 he was aggregated secondary lieutenant and graduated from the artillery and engineering school the following year . With the detachment of the Guard Corps , he took part in the Kalisch Revue in 1835 and received the Order of Saint Anne III. Class. On August 13, 1837 he was transferred to the Guard Hussar Regiment and promoted to Prime Lieutenant in mid-January 1845 . A year later he received the Order of St. Vladimir IV Class. In June 1850 he was awarded the character as a captain and two years later on June 22, 1852 patent of his rank. In Potsdam he became a member of the Masonic Lodge "Teutonia zur Weisheit".

On November 2, 1852, he was appointed as the personal adjutant of Prince Carl of Prussia and was placed in this position à la suite of the Guard Hussar Regiment. With promotion to major , he became squadron chief in the 3rd Uhlan Regiment (Emperor of Russia) on June 3, 1856, and from May 16, 1857 Witzleben was again personal adjutant to Carl von Prussia, leaving his position à la suite of his regiment. In 1858 he received the Knight's Cross of the Leopold Order . On July 1, 1860, he was regimental commander as a lieutenant colonel . In January 1861 he received the Order of the Red Eagle III. Class with a bow. In October of the same year he was promoted to colonel.

In 1864 he received the Order of St. Vladimir III. Class. In the position of his regiment à la suite, he became commander of the 9th Cavalry Brigade on April 18, 1865 . On February 10, 1866, he received the Commander's Cross First Class of the Order of Henry the Lion and was promoted to major general on June 15, 1866. family

Witzleben was the master of the Łyszkowo manor. On December 6, 1849, he married the bourgeois Marie Hossauer (1828–1876) in Berlin , who was buried in the Invalidenfriedhof after her death on February 22, 1876 . The marriage remained childless.
