Jochen Schönmann

Jochen Alexander Schönmann (born June 25, 1974 in Heidelberg ) is a German political advisor and former German national handball player. Since May 2019 he has been ambassador for the city of Mannheim and responsible for government affairs.

education

After training as a bank clerk at Deutsche Bank in Mannheim, he completed his studies at SRH Holding in Heidelberg in 2001 with a degree in business administration. Until 2005 he completed an internship at Mannheimer Morgen .

Professional career

He worked as an author until the end of 2009. Schönmann wrote for Der Spiegel (Spiegel-Online), Manager-Magazin , Die Tageszeitung and the Associated Press . Until 2011 he was head of corporate communications at the solar project planner Wirsol . Until March 2019, Schönmann was responsible for press and public relations work in the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and Art in Stuttgart and spokesman for Science Minister Theresia Bauer . In this function he was thematically responsible on the part of the ministry for accompanying the committee of inquiry against the science minister in the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg .

Athletic career

Schönmann was a professional handball player from 1992 to 2001. He played u. a. for the HG Oftersheim / Schwetzingen , the predecessor of the Rhein-Neckar Löwen, the TSV Baden Östringen and the SG Leutershausen . Schönmann played in the 1998 Supercup for the German men's national handball team .

Private

Schönmann is a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen . He is married, has two children and lives in Mannheim.
