Company history

Wircon GmbH, which was founded in December 2013 with the support of Dietmar Hopp , took over individual parts of the German business of the Wirsol Group, which was in trouble, on March 3, 2014. The Wirsol brand will be continued and repositioned.

Company history before the Wirsol Group went bankrupt

The company was founded on February 1st, 2003 by Markus Wirth, Hans Wirth and Stefan Riel as "Die Hausrenovierer GmbH" in Waghäusel ( Karlsruhe district ), where the company's headquarters are located. After the company began to specialize in the field of photovoltaics , it was renamed "Wirth Solar GmbH" in January 2004. Due to impending disputes with Würth Solar GmbH , those responsible made the decision in 2007 to rename the company "Wirsol Deutschland GmbH". This became a subsidiary of the newly founded holding company "Wirsol Solar AG". In 2010 the company's board of directors was expanded by the company's founders. Bernd Kästner has been CFO since then. Nikolaus Krane, previously on the board of Conergy , is responsible for international financial products, major projects and communication at Wirsol.

In order to promote business relations with Asia, the company and Wirsol Solar Technology Beijing Ltd. created a company location in China. In June 2012 Wirsol opened a location for Southeast Asia in Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia.

Preliminary insolvency proceedings were initiated in October 2013 on the initiative of the Wirsol Group. The application was granted on October 24, 2013 by the Karlsruhe District Court and a preliminary insolvency administrator was appointed. The management continues to pursue the goal of advancing the restructuring as part of an insolvency plan procedure. This plan insolvency affects Wirsol Solar AG, Wirsol Deutschland GmbH and Wirsol Solar System GmbH.

Due to financial difficulties, the Wirsol Group intended to liquidate its “Wind Energy” business area, which was founded in November 2012. Eight employees of the company were released with effect from November 4, 2013.

In December 2013, Wirsol E-Mobility GmbH filed for insolvency due to impending insolvency. The Karlsruhe District Court granted the application and appointed a provisional insolvency administrator. Three employees are affected.

In March 2014, parts of the German business were taken over by Wirsol GmbH. Wircon continues to run the Wirsol brand and takes over 80 of 300 employees. Wircon is owned by Dietmar Hopp .
