Johann-Georg Jaeger (born October 22, 1965 in Ludwigslust ) is a German politician of the Greens . From 2011 to 2016 he was a member of the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and parliamentary managing director of his parliamentary group and from 2016 to 2018 he was chairman of the state association of the Greens in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

Private life

Jaeger is the son of Pastor Joachim Jaeger , who gave his son the first name Johann-Georg in memory of his own hometown Johanngeorgenstadt .

Johann-Georg Jaeger graduated from high school in Nordhausen in 1984 and did his military service with the NVA as a construction soldier . He then worked as an auxiliary roofer in Leipzig for a year and wanted to train as a roofer, but then decided to study theology, which he began in 1987 at the University of Rostock . He interrupted his studies several times, including being released from his studies to work at the round table. He finished his studies in 1999 without a degree.

Jaeger works as a project developer in the field of renewable energies . He is the operator of several wind turbines.

Jaeger has three children.

In 1989/90 Jaeger was one of the founders of the New Forum in Rostock, a delegate for the Rostock district in the republic spokesperson for the New Forum and sat at the district round table for the New Forum .

Since 1999 he has been a member of Rostock's citizenship . He worked there on the main committee and building committee and had been parliamentary group chairman since 2006. In March 2012, he announced that he would resign his mandate in April so that he could devote himself fully to his work as a member of the state parliament.

Jaeger has been the spokesman for the district board of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen since 2000. From 2000 to 2006 he was a board member of the regional association and from 2002 to 2004 he was regional board spokesman (state chairman).

In the state elections in September 2011 , Jaeger was elected to the Schwerin state parliament above fourth on the list. He was the parliamentary manager of the parliamentary group, member of the committee for energy, infrastructure and regional development as well as spokesman for the group for transport, energy, climate, nuclear policy, church and interreligious dialogue.

His focus is on economic and energy policy. He is a member of the supervisory board of Stadtwerke Rostock , a member of the board of the “Neues Forum” foundation, the “Ecumenical Foundation for the Preservation of Creation and Sustainability” and the regional board of the Federal Wind Energy Association in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

On October 15, 2016, Jaeger was elected regional chairman of the Greens in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and succeeded Andreas Katz at Claudia Müller's side . In October 2018, he left this office after not running again.
