Johann Adam Osiander (philologist)
Johann Adam Osiander (born August 15, 1701 in Tübingen ; † November 20, 1756 there ) was a Protestant theologian and philologist.
Life
The son of the physician Johann Adam Osiander (1659–1708) came to his uncle Johann Osiander after the early death of his father , who took care of his education. He had graduated from school in his hometown and received further instruction from private tutors. In 1715 he moved to the University of Tübingen , initially to complete a basic philosophical course with Revius , Johann Rudolph Osiander , Christian Hagmeier (1680–1746), Johann Eberhard Rösler and Andreas Adam Hochstetter .
After he had acquired his master's degree in philosophy in 1717 , he followed up with Johann Christoph Pfaff , Christoph Matthäus Pfaff , Gottfried Hofmann (1666–1728), Christian Eberhard Weißmann (1677–1747), Georg Konrad Pregizer (1675–1749) and Johann Christian Klemm a theological course. After completing an ordinary exam, he went to Waldenbuch and Neckar-Thailingen as vicar in 1718 . In order to pursue an academic career, he went back to Tübingen in 1720, where he became a castle preacher and in 1722 a repentant in the local theological monastery.
After a short stopover in 1728 as a deacon in Calw , he became a deacon in Tübingen in 1730, took on an extraordinary professorship in philosophy at the Tübingen University in 1732, and became a full professor of the Greek language in 1739 . As such, he was rector of the academic gubernium in 1744 , Ephorus of the theological monastery in 1747 and then received the dignity of pedagogical ark ob der Staig . Osiander had mainly dealt with the exegesis and criticism of the New Testament. In addition, he dealt with metaphysics and polemicized against the transmigration of souls .
