Johann August Reichardt

Johann August Reichardt (born April 3, 1741 in Remda ; † January 3, 1808 in Jena ) was a German legal scholar.

Life

Johann August was the son of the bailiff of the Jena University Christoph Friedrich Reichardt (* November 1695 in Remda; † 21 June 1763 ibid.) And his wife Clara Elisabeth Hamberger, who was married on 23 April 1731 (* 30 December 1705 in Jena; † February 11, 1774 in Remda), the daughter of the Jena mathematics professor Georg Albrecht Hamberger . In 1754 he attended the Fridericanum grammar school in Rudolstadt , which was under the direction of Rector Friedrich Nikolaus Ulrich (born January 25, 1712 in Oberweißbach (Schwarzburg)). In 1758 he moved to the University of Jena , where he completed philosophical and legal studies. He attended lectures by Johann Caspar Heimburg , Johann August von Hellfeld , Joachim Georg Darjes , Paul Wilhelm Schmid , Joachim Erdmann Schmidt , Karl Friedrich Walch , Lorenz Johann Daniel Suckow and Johann Christian Blasche, among others .

In 1763 he received his doctorate in law, after which he worked as a lawyer at the court court and gave lectures at the Jena University. In 1768 he became a syndic of the university, court judge and associate professor of law. In 1771 he was a full supernumerary professor of law, from 1777 to 1782 he was also the university's archivist. In 1782 he became a full professor of the institutes, in 1785 he received the title of Hofrat von Sachsen-Gotha-Altenburg and in the summer semester of 1793 he was rector of the Alma Mater . He later received the title of Justitzrat.

The son Johann Heinrich Karl Reichardt (born February 8, 1789 in Jena, † November 29, 1857 in Ronneburg) came from his marriage to Johanna Friedericke Christiane Sophie Wachler.
