Johann Christian Böhm (master builder)

Johann Christian Böhm (also: Johann Christian Böhme ) (* 30th June 1678 in Schneeberg (Erzgebirge) ; † 30th November 1730 ) was a German architect and Electoral Hanoverian court - architect .

From 1713 he received mainly orders in the Hanoverian agricultural sector, but also in the royal seat of Hanover. He was appointed master builder in Hanover in 1716 with an annual salary of 652 Reichstalers . Hardly a decade later, however, efforts were already made to find a suitable successor for him, as he is said to have failed to prove himself as an architect. In addition to Böhm, Tobias Henry Reetz was hired as another court architect in 1725 , because Böhm did not meet expectations.

In 1710 he married Sophie Clara Hoddersen (1794–1724), from this marriage the daughter Sophie Elisabeth (1714–1752) emerged, who in 1731 married the judicial advisor Bernhard Diedrich Wardenburg (1703–1789).

• Participation in the Jagdschloss Göhrde under Louis Remy de la Fosse
• 1713 to 1719/21, together with Brand Westermann and Johann Caspar Borchmann : Execution and ??? of the Hanover State Archives , also the last state building before King George I moved to the Kingdom of Great Britain
• 1717–1720: Execution of the “ Monbrillant ” garden palace with the help of the construction clerk Johann Friedrich Junge for the Privy Councilor and Lord Chamberlain, Count Ernst August von Platen-Hallermund, based on a plan delivered in 1713 by Louis Remy de la Fosse
• 1720–1723: Construction of the orangery at the Great Garden in Herrenhausen in half-timbered construction
• 1726–1729: At the suggestion of Johann Henrich Hinüber, construction of a new office building in Wildeshausen using the stones bought by Countess Angelika Catharina von Wasaburg from the demolition of Huntlose Castle as a simple but representative two-storey, baroque half-timbered building
• 1727: New construction of the hall church St. Martin in Linden (destroyed by air raids in 1943)
