Johann Friedrich von Borries 1681–1751

Johann Friedrich (von) Borries (born December 26, 1684 in Einbeck , † March 21, 1751 in Stade ) was an electoral Hanoverian office director and legal advisor.

career

Borries was a son of the chief auditor Theophilus Fridericus Borries (* 1646; † November 19, 1693; son of Heinrich Borries (1609–1673), city treasurer and mayor of Minden ) and Anna Elisabeth, née. Crauel (1661-1730). He studied law at the University of Helmstedt , which he achieved in 1706 with a dissertation on money and gambling entitled “Diss. de eo, quod justum est, circa ludos, p. de justo naturali ludorum in pecuniam ” successfully completed. After a position as secretary of the High Court of Appeal, he was appointed judicial advisor at the Stade Justice Office in autumn 1715.

In January 1727 he was promoted to the actual consistorial councilor of the consistory in Stade, albeit without salary until 1732. On August 20, 1733 he received from Emperor Charles VI. a renewal diploma of his nobility for himself and his descendants, which was confirmed by Elector George II of Hanover on February 4, 1734. From October 15, 1736, he held the post of Secret Judicial Council. The previous director of the Stade Justice Chancellery and Court Court, Johann Hinrich von Spilker, was already marked by illness in his last years, which is why von Borries took over many of his duties. In April 1743, for example, he was made deputy director of the court with a higher salary. Shortly after Spilker's death on June 20, 1746, Borries became director of the judicial office of the court in Stade. The office of director of the consistory in Stade was also connected with it. Borries remained in this position until his death in 1751.
