Johann Gottfried Krug
Johann Gottfried Krug (* 1736 in Weidau , † 1811 in Merseburg ) was a German organ builder and instrument maker who had his workshop in Merseburg at the end of the 18th century.
Krug grew up in Theißen near Zeitz and initially manufactured organs mainly in the Zeitz Monastery area . In 1772 he wanted to relocate his workshop to Merseburg, which then happened after he had taken over the repair of the castle and cathedral organs there. Originally this maintenance contract was supposed to be given to Johann Christoph Zuberbier from Halle (Saale) , but the parish decided on the less well-known Krug due to Zuberbier's family ties to the organist.
His son Johann Siegfried Krug was also an organ builder, the organ in Atzendorf (I / 8, preserved) from 1831 comes from him .
