Live and act
Johann Heinrich Dick was born in 1801 as the son of the entrepreneur Johann Christoph Dick, who was a co-founder of the Offenbach carriage manufacturer Dick & Kirschten . Johann Heinrich Dick took over the management of the company before 1843 and became a member of Offenbach's municipal council in 1843.
In 1856 he sold the company to the manufacturer Karl Theodor Wecker (1828-1893) and devoted himself entirely to politics. On May 6, 1859 Dick was by the Grand Duke Ludwig III. of Hessen-Darmstadt appointed mayor of the city of Offenbach.
During his tenure, the city's street names with letters that had been common up to that point were replaced by modern house numbering and the city was expanded to the west. In 1867 Dick's term of office as Offenbach's mayor ended. He died in 1888.
