Fritz Reinicke (* 1879 , † 1967 ) was up to 21 November 1946 of 26 March 1945 by the US military government used the mayor in Offenbach am Main .

Fritz Reinicke was before the seizure of power by the Nazis in 1933, a member of the Center Party . During the National Socialist period he was non-party and most recently administrative director in Offenbach am Main. When American troops occupied the city of Offenbach largely without a fight on March 26, 1945, most of the local National Socialist incumbents had already fled. As the longest-serving and highest-ranking municipal official, Fritz Reinicke had already taken over the management of the remaining city administration on the morning of March 26th. He arranged for the trams that had been used as roadblocks to be driven back to the depot. The American occupation forces, led by Major FE Sheehan, appointed the politically unsuspecting Reinicke as Lord Mayor on the same day.

At the end of April 1945, a provisional citizens' committee was formed, which Reinicke had to advise in his official business. The aim of the military government was to establish a functioning city administration as quickly as possible. The first meeting of the citizens' committee was held on May 3, 1945, and the first official reports from the military government were issued one day later. Fritz Reinicke called on all Offenbach citizens to do vigorous development work and to support the new local government. During Reinicke's tenure, denazification measures were carried out, curfews were imposed and food was allocated through food cards . The Rowenta company was contracted to deliver 100,000 lighters to the US Army. Reinicke himself had little room for maneuver in his work as mayor for the 45,000 inhabitants of Offenbach at the end of the war. He remained in office until November 21, 1946, which was filled again just under two months later. Fritz Reinicke became a member of the CDU in 1946 .
