Helmuth Schranz (born January 7, 1897 in Haiger ; † May 7, 1968 in Offenbach am Main ) was a German politician ( DP , later GDP ).

Life

Helmuth Schranz was a doctor of law and an insurance salesman. From 1925 he was a member of the NSDAP and from 1934 to 1945 Lord Mayor and NSDAP district leader of Offenbach. Schranz was a member of the German Bundestag from 1953 to 1961. From 1957 to November 9, 1960 he was deputy. Chairman of the Bundestag committee for local politics and public welfare. Originally elected for the German party , after the merger with the GB / BHE on May 3, 1961, he became a member of the new GDP, which he represented in parliament with Herbert Schneider and Heinz Matthes until the end of the election period.

In 1957, together with his party friend Heinz Matthes, as well as Richard Jaeger , Hans Schuberth , Richard Stücklen (all CSU ) and other members of the Bundestag from the CSU and DP, he introduced a bill to repeal Article 102 of the Basic Law , with the aim of reintroducing the death penalty . However, this was unsuccessful.
