Johannes Rebholz (born June 19, 1885 in Kreenheinstetten ; † January 6, 1960 in Offenbach am Main ) was Lord Mayor of Offenbach am Main from January 17, 1947 to December 31, 1949 and chairman of the SPD Frankfurt-Hessen until 1933 .

Life

Rebholz grew up in poor circumstances. He attended elementary school in Kreenheinstetten, a small village in the Swabian Alb , twelve kilometers north of Messkirch . His resignation became necessary after his mayor Karl Kasperkowitz of the CDU and the employees of the Offenbach clinic wanted to prevent the employment of the Jewish doctor Herbert Lewin for anti-Semitic reasons.

In 1955 he was awarded the plaque of honor of the city of Frankfurt am Main .
