Johann Heinrich Knöll (born January 28, 1806 in Klein-Umstadt , Hesse , † August 31, 1891 in Vorderbrühl ) was district chairman of the 10th Vienna district of Favoriten .

Life

Johann Heinrich Knöll came to Vienna via Regensburg , where he settled down from 1838. In the former suburb of Matzleinsdorf he ran the meat elbow trade . With that he acquired a fortune with which he settled in what would later become the 10th district, where he acquired large estates and a soap factory . He received the citizenship of Vienna and was active both politically and as a benefactor for his new home. Knöll provided his private house in Favoritenstrasse 96 for the first elementary schoolin the area of ​​the later Favoriten, which began operations in 1862. He was deputy chairman of the Favoritner Kindergarten Association, supported the poor in his district and above all the Evangelical Church. For many years Knöll was a member of the community committee and deputy district chairman of the first district chairman Johann Heinrich Steudel . After him he was district chairman himself from 1884 to 1887. In 1889 he moved to Meiereigasse 7 in Mödling , where he also continued to work as a patron and benefactor. According to willingly decreed foundations that bore his name, Knöll was buried on September 2, 1891 in the Matzleinsdorf Evangelical Cemetery. In 1962 he was moved to the collective crypt 222 there.

Johann Heinrich Knöll was married twice and had no descendants.

He was awarded the Great Golden Salvator Medal and in 1893 Knöllgasse in Vienna-Favoriten was named after him.
