Johann Heinrich Schirmer (born October 28, 1800 in Bayreuth , † December 27, 1886 in Cologne ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Schirmer's father was a civil servant in Bayreuth. During the wars of liberation he was initially in Nassau's service. On January 6, 1816, he transferred to Ansbach-Bayreuth services and joined the Prussian Army on April 29, 1816 . Schirmer was aggregated as a second lieutenant in the 34th Infantry Regiment and was assigned at the end of October 1816. On January 15, 1829, he was transferred to the 35th Infantry Regiment as Prime Lieutenant . There he was promoted to captain and company commander at the end of January 1837 . Schirmer was promoted to major on March 31, 1846, and was transferred to the 16th Infantry Regiment . This was followed from December 30, 1847 to June 30, 1851 as a battalion commander in the 30th Infantry Regiment . He was then commander of the 1st Battalion in the 28th Landwehr Infantry Regiment and was promoted to lieutenant colonel in this position on March 22, 1853 . On May 23, 1853 Schirmer was appointed commander of the 15th Infantry Regiment . There he was promoted to colonel on June 13, 1854 . Schirmer received the Order of the Red Eagle III in 1855 . Class with a bow and took his leave on July 6, 1857, being awarded the character of major general with pension . He died in Cologne on December 27, 1886.
