Life
Born as the son of Kasper Löner and his wife Magarethe, the daughter of the mayor of Hof Konrad Feiltscher, Löner graduated from high school in Hof (Saale) and went to the University of Wittenberg in 1552 to study theology. After he had finished his studies, he took over a teaching position at the cathedral school in Naumburg in 1555 .
In 1558 he became rector in Thamsbrück , was ordained as a deacon in Weißensee in Leipzig in 1561 and rose there to archdeacon in 1565 . After he had obtained the academic degree of a master's degree in the seven liberal arts at the University of Jena in 1567 , he became pastor in Bibra in 1569 , pastor in Themar in 1571 and superintendent in Meiningen in 1574 .
Due to the theological disputes, he resigned his office in Meiningen in 1583 and lived in Ohrdruf as a private person. From 1584 he worked as superintendent in Arnstadt . In 1588 he became court preacher in Weimar and in 1592 took over the superintendent's position in Altenburg , where he worked until the end of his life. In 1593 he received his doctorate in theology in Jena .
Löner was a representative of Lutheran orthodoxy and emerged primarily as a champion against cryptocalvinism . Most prominent among his theological writings are sermons about Daniel and Jonah. In addition, Methodicae dispositiones evangeliorum dominicalium elaboratae ... (Erfurt 1586) should be emphasized.
