Johann Karl August von Schultz

Johann Karl August von Schultz (born July 24, 1737 in Stendal ; † February 3, 1800 in Siewierz ) was a Prussian major general and brigadier of the South Prussian Fusilier Brigade.

Life

origin

His parents were Jakob Schultz (born November 26, 1696), building inspector of the Altmark and senator in Stendal, and his wife Katharina, née Belitz. Major General Dietrich Wilhelm von Schultz was his brother.

Military career

In 1757, Schultz joined the Angelelli Free Battalion during the Seven Years' War and fought in the battles near Breslau , Leuthen , Hochkirch and the siege of Prague . He was wounded in the battle near Landeshut. On March 5, 1758, he was promoted to lieutenant prime minister. At the end of the war he was not released, but on March 22, 1763, he was transferred to the "le Noble" garrison regiment . On January 1, 1769 he was staff captain and on January 1, 1772 captain and company commander . In 1778/79 Schultz took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . On September 9, 1781 he was promoted to major and on June 1, 1787 transferred to the fusilier battalion "von Schmitthenner". On December 7, 1788 he was appointed chief of the battalion. On June 14, 1789, Schultz became lieutenant colonel and on June 7, 1791, colonel . At the revue in Neisse on September 6, 1791 he received the order Pour le Mérite . On April 22, 1792 he became Vice Inspector General and representative of the Prince of Hohenlohe while he was in the field. Schultz received an allowance of 500 thalers and became major general on January 1, 1796. On March 31, 1796 he became brigadier ad interim and inspector of the light infantry. Then on September 22, 1797 he became a brigadier of the South Prussian Fusilier Brigade with a salary of 2180 thalers (from October 1, 1797). On August 31, 1798 he was raised to the nobility and died on February 3, 1800 in Siewierz.

He married Friederike Christiane Schmidt (* 1748, † January 30, 1806) in Glatz in 1769 . The couple had several children:
