Life

Johann Philipp Kreißler was born in Guntersblum in 1672 as the son of the tailor Johannes Balthasar Kreißler and his third wife Anna Maria Silvy, who came from the neighboring town of Alsheim . On April 26, 1701, Johann Philipp Kreißler married the teacher's daughter Anna Catharina Braun, who came from Udenheim . The farmer Johann Philipp Kreißler and his wife had numerous children, of which the first three were born in Guntersblum: Johann Georg (* ~ April 30, 1702), Johannes (* ~ December 2, 1703) and Beata Maria (* ~ September 19, 1706). Three other children were baptized in the province of New York: Johann Henrich Valentin (* ~ September 13, 1710), Johann Hieronymus (* March 6, 1713), Anna Catharina (* October 13, 1714).

In 1709 the family joined the first mass emigration of the Palatinate and emigrated to the British North American colonies, which later became the United States. The main reasons for emigration were the Great Northern War and the winter of the century. Johann Philipp Kreißler feared that he would fall into poverty and become dependent on others despite having large houses and fields .

The journey to America lasted about one and a half years, as the emigrants initially only came as far as London , and only in the spring of 1710 could they leave for New York with 850 families or around 3000 people on ten ships. Finally, the Kreißler family arrived in New York City in April 1710 . On the very grueling journey with a total of 2500 travelers, the Kreißlers lost two children. Many other fellow travelers also died. The family then traveled up the Hudson River and settled in Beckmansland in 1716/1717, later in the Schoharietal. Johann Philipp Kreißler is last mentioned around 1744 as living in the family of his son Hieronymus.

Progeny up to Walter Percy Chrysler

Johann Philipp Kreißler's son Johannes and his wife Eva Catharine Manck fathered a total of four children, including their son Heinrich, who was born on October 24, 1739 in Teerbosch. This in turn had with his wife Anna Dorothea Klom († 1797) the son Wilhelmus, who was born on October 21, 1767 in Churchtown, Columbia County, New York State. His son William Henry was born around 1799. Since then, the name Chrysler has been used as a family name. William Henry Chrysler died between 1874 and 1877.

The fifth generation to be born around 1829 was John Matthew Chrysler, who moved from Canada to Kansas around 1858 and died there in 1866. His son Henry C. "Hank" was born on December 17, 1850 in Chatham-Kent in Ontario , Canada. He died on May 23, 1916 in Salina , Kansas . Walter Percy Chrysler, among others, comes from his marriage to Anna Maria Breymann. Born on April 2, 1875 in Wamego , Kansas, he married Della V. Forker on June 4, 1900, with whom he had four children. Walter Percy Chrysler finally died on August 18, 1940 in Kings Point, Long Island , New York.
