Johann Siegmund von Rosenberg

Johann Siegmund von Rosenberg (* 1708 in Labiau ; † after January 26, 1777 ) was the Prussian major general and heir of Powayen, Medenau and Mosehnen in East Prussia .

Life

Military career

Rosenberg came in 1733 as a private corporal in the infantry regiment "von Flanß" . There he became ensign on September 16, 1737 and second lieutenant on August 9, 1739 . During the First Silesian War he fought in the siege of Cosel and in the battle of Chotusitz . In the Second Silesian War Rosenberg fought in the Battle of Hohenfriedberg . On September 6, 1745, he became Premier Lieutenant and rose to Captain and Company Commander by October 14, 1754 . During the Seven Years' War he fought near Groß-Jägersdorf , Zorndorf , Kay and Kunersdorf . At that time Rosenberg became major on September 14, 1758 with a patent on September 8, 1758 .

After the war he became a lieutenant colonel on June 10, 1765 and finally regimental commander on November 22, 1765. On May 20, 1770, he was promoted to colonel with a patent from May 21, 1770 . On January 26, 1777 Rosenberg received his resignation as major general and died shortly afterwards.

Rosenberg married Maria Charlotte von Okalowski, widowed von Scholten, on January 9, 1755. From the marriage the son Christoph Ludwig Theodor Sigismund (* September 2, 1756 - December 27, 1836) emerged, who also embarked on a military career and made it up to the Rittmeister .

After the death of his first wife, Rosenberg married Barbara Elisabeth Küchenmeister von Sternberg (* 1732; † 22 May 1799) in Königsberg on October 8, 1771 .
