Frischauf Hut ( Alois Beer , 1903)

From 1868 Johannes Frischauf was a pioneer in the tourist development in the Sannthaler and Steiner Alps , opening up paths and huts. The roads over the Paulitschsattel and the connection Sulzbach - Leutsch go back to his mission. Together with Franz von Juraschek and Mathias Spreiz he was the first to climb the Admonter Reichenstein in Gesaeuse. In a time of fierce national conflicts, Frischauf took the view that mountaineering should not be subordinate to nationalism, religion or political stance. He was involved in the establishment of the Croatian Mountaineering Society (Hrvatski Planinarski Savez). To this day, a refuge in the Sannthal Alps is named after him.

Frischauf's urn was buried on the top of the sheikh . His estate is at the University of Graz .
