John Carl Buechler

John Carl Buechler (born June 18, 1952 in Belleville , Illinois , † March 17, 2019 ) was an American film director , screenwriter , producer and actor from the field of fantasy and horror films . As an artist, he was also responsible for the work of special effects and make-up, mainly in the area of B-film .

Life

John Carl Buechler initially produced special effects for his own small films.

After completing his studies, he applied for his student film in Hollywood. He initially worked there under Rick Baker and Stan Winston . He worked on the make-up effects for productions by u. a. Roger Corman , New World Pictures , Fred Olen Ray and Charles Band . Since the late 1970s, his work has included more than 60 productions. He was nominated three times for the Saturn Award .

He became known around the world for directing Friday the 13th Part VII - Jason in a bloodlust and his legendary special effects and the like. a. at Stuart Gordon's From Beyond - Aliens of Horror . As an actor he was u. a. starred in Adam Green's first two Hatchet films.

As a director, he has staged around a dozen film and television productions since 1984. In previous years he was involved as a second unit director on The Powers of Light and The Death Hunter .

In February 2019, it was announced that Buechler had cancer. His wife Lynn opened a call for donations because the implementation of the fight against cancer at Buechler "has already eaten up all financial reserves". He died on March 17, 2019 as a result of the disease.
