John Fritsche junior (born September 3, 1991 in Parma , Ohio ) is an American - Swiss ice hockey player who has been under contract with Genève-Servette HC in the National League since August 2018 . In addition to being an American citizen, he also has a Swiss passport and is therefore not subject to the foreigner quota in the NLA.

Fritsche comes from an ice hockey family, his father John was a professional ice hockey player and his brother Jason and his cousins Tom and Dan are also active in this sport.

Career

Fritsche began his career in the 2008/09 season with the Alpena IceDiggers in the American Junior League North American Hockey League . After a brief engagement with the Green Bay Gamblers in the United States Hockey League , he moved within the league to the Youngstown Phantoms , where he spent the entire 2010/11 season.

In the summer of 2011, the attacker decided to move to Europe and moved to the National League A for the Swiss club SC Bern , but they transferred him to league rivals Genève-Servette HC during the current 2011/12 season in exchange for Adrian Brunner . There he played in a team with his cousin Dan for two years and won the Spengler Cup in 2013 . In January 2014, the native American was given back to Friborg-Gottéron as part of a renewed swap , where he was on the ice until 2018. For the 2018/19 season he returned to Genève-Servette HC.
