Dan Fritsche (born July 13, 1985 in Parma , Ohio ) is a Swiss - American ice hockey player who was last under contract with the ZSC Lions in the National League A between October 2013 and 2016 .
Career
Fritsche played in his junior years for the Sarnia Sting , London Knights and in his hometown for the local club Parma Flyers. After Brian Holzinger and Michael Rupp, Fritsche is the third Flyers player to make the leap into the NHL.
Fritsche was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2003 in the second round in a total of 46th position by the Columbus Blue Jackets . After five years and four seasons with the Blue Jackets, Fritsche was transferred to his current club in New York on July 2, 2008, together with Nikolai Scherdew . The Blue Jackets were given by the rangers Fjodor Tjutin and Christian Bäckman . The striker only stayed in the Rangers' organization for about half a year, as he was transferred to the Minnesota Wild on January 29, 2009 for defender Erik Reitz . At the beginning of the 2009/10 season Fritsche initially found no new employer in the NHL, whereupon the Syracuse Crunch from the American Hockey League signed him shortly after the start of the season . In October 2010, signed Fritsche at HC Servette Genève in the National League A . In the 2013/14 season , Fritsche moved to HC Lugano after signing a three-year contract in November 2012.
The Swiss-American dual citizen wore the ZSC jersey 89 times, but missed the entire 2015/16 season due to a concussion.
International
Fritsche first played for the US junior national team and took part with the team in the U20 World Junior Championships in 2004 and 2005. He won the gold medal in 2004.
At the Arosa Challenge in December 2014, he wore the jersey of the Swiss national team for the first time.
