Jan-Philipp Cadieux (born March 17, 1980 in Davos ) is a former Canadian - Swiss ice hockey player and today's coach who is currently under contract as an assistant coach at Genève-Servette HC . During his active career he played 651 games in the top division of Switzerland . His father Paul-André was also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

As a player

Cadieux began his career as an ice hockey player in the Genève-Servette HC youth team . In 1998 he moved to the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec , where he played for two seasons for the Océanic de Rimouski . In 2000 Cadieux won the Coupe du Président with the team , and shortly afterwards the Memorial Cup . For the 2000/01 season he returned to HC Lugano in Switzerland. He stayed there for three seasons and won the Swiss championship title with the Luganesi in 2003 . The next engagement followed for his youth club from Geneva. Cadieux stayed with Genève-Servette for eight seasons. For the 2011/12 season he was transferred to Friborg-Gottéron . After two seasons, he announced his retirement in 2013 at the age of 33.

As a trainer

Cadieux began his coaching career in 2014 at Friborg-Gottéron as head coach of the elite juniors. He also worked as an assistant coach for the Swiss U18 and U19 juniors. For the 2017/18 season he signed a contract with HCB Ticino Rockets in the Swiss League . He replaced Luca Cereda as head coach. In May 2019, Cadieux signed a two-year contract with his youth club, Genève-Servette, to serve as Patrick Émond's assistant coach .
