John Gatins

John Gatins is an American director , screenwriter , producer, and actor .

Life

Gatins grew up near the historic Saratoga Race Course in New York State . He graduated from Vassar College Drama Major in 1990 . He first appeared as an actor in the early 1990s. Since 2001 he has mainly been active as a screenwriter and can only be seen in small roles. In 2005 he made his directorial debut with Dreamer - A dream comes true .

His greatest success so far was the script for the film Flight , directed by Robert Zemeckis , for which he was nominated for several film awards in 2012 and 2013, including an Oscar .

Gatins comes from a family of police officers .
