John Morressy

John Morressy (born December 8, 1930 in Brooklyn , New York City , † March 20, 2006 in Sullivan , New Hampshire ) was an American science fiction and fantasy writer.

Life

Morressy completed his military service in the US Army after attending school and then began studying at St. John's University , from which he graduated in 1951 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA). He later completed postgraduate studies at New York University , which he completed in 1961 with a Master of Arts (MA).

He began writing science fiction and fantasy novels in the mid-1960s and made his debut in 1966 with the novel The Blackboard Cavalier .

In 1968 he took over a professorship for English studies at Franklin Pierce College in New Hampshire and taught there until 1991. Between 1978 and 1991 he was also “Writer-in-Residence” there.

He then became known from the 1970s with various series of novels such as the Del Whitby , Iron Angel and the Kedrigern series. He also wrote short stories such as No More Pencils, No More Books (1979).

Some of his books also appeared in German translation .
