John Patrick Boles

John Patrick Boles (born January 21, 1930 in Boston , Massachusetts , USA , † October 9, 2014 in Framingham , Massachusetts) was auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Boston .

Life

John Patrick Boltes attended St. Sebastian Minor Seminary and studied Catholic theology and philosophy at the Boston seminary . The Archbishop of Boston, Richard James Cushing , ordained him priestly for the Archdiocese of Boston on February 2, 1955 . In 1962 he taught at the Small Seminary and became its rector in 1966. After completing an educational doctoral degree to become a Ph.D. at Boston College in 1972 he took over the direction of education for the Archdiocese of Boston with its seat in the Pope John XXIII national seminary . In 1974 he took over the parish of St. Paul in Cambridge and was a pastor at Harvard-Radcliff Catholic Student Center. From 1987 to 1992 he was also a member of the commission for the clergy of his archdiocese and vicar general for Region IV of the diocese.

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Nova Sparsa and auxiliary bishop in Boston on April 14, 1992 . The Archbishop of Boston, Bernard Francis Cardinal Law , donated him episcopal ordination on May 21 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were John Michael D'Arcy , Bishop of Fort Wayne-South Bend , and John Joseph Glynn , Auxiliary Bishop in the US Military Ordinary . His episcopal motto was That all may be one .

On October 12, 2006, Pope Benedict XVI. his resignation request submitted for reasons of age.
