Johnny Armstrong
Johnny Armstrong (actually John Armstrong ; born August 11, 1977 in Lytham St Annes , England ) is a British stand-up comedian and poetry slammer active in Germany .
Life
Johnny Armstrong was born in Lytham in Northern England in 1977. He graduated from Blackpool in 1996 and then studied mechanical engineering at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland . In 2002 he learned the German language at an intensive language course in Berlin and then worked in Konstanz and, since 2004, in Munich . In 2006 he moved to Wales , where he worked at the University of Glamorgan . In 2008 he started his career as a stand-up comedian in the UK . From 2012 to 2013 he worked as a math teacher in London and then moved back to Germany, where he continued his comedy career. What is particularly striking is his bald head, paired with a long red full beard, which, as he himself emphasized at the RTL Comedy Grand Prix , looks like a hooligan and a Salafist at the same time . His jokes are mostly puns , full of irony and often very black . He has been active on television since 2014 and is therefore well known. In 2016 he started his solo program Merciless . He can also be seen regularly in the Quatsch Comedy Club . Between 2013 and 2014 he won numerous poetry slams.
