After graduation, she was employed as an assistant in the textile department. Later she was a lecturer at the chair for painting. In 2002 she was appointed professor there. Leona Wyczółkowskiego ) in September 1988 in Bydgoszcz she received an award. She received a "Grand Prix" at the 6th International Biennale for Portrait Painting and Graphics in Tuzla in autumn 1990 and a prize at the 2nd International Drawing Competition in the Museum of Architecture in Wroclaw in October 2003. In October 2004 she received an "honorary award" the 4th International Drawing Biennale in Plzeň . Two years later she received the prize of the International Art Association (Europe) in the same place .

Jolanta Wagner's art is archetypal and modern at the same time. The original lies in the steady, feminine weaving of the pictures. They are like a spider web of a seemingly mechanical record of events, thoughts and objects that are inscribed in clear structures and orders. Also archetypal is the belief in the power of symbols created in this way - totems and signs with magical powers. Jola Wagner has to believe in this power. How else would she find the strength and perseverance to patiently draw profiles of girls, vases, spoons, garden sheds and cream jars, patiently like a calligrapher - similar to the Irish monk who painted his mythical dragons in the illuminated Gospels?
