Jon Pult (Romanist)

Jon Pult (born August 3, 1911 in St. Gallen ; † October 31, 1991 in Sent ) was a Romance philologist and linguist and cultural politician involved in the Rumantschia in the canton of Graubünden . He published mainly in Vallader .

Life

Pult was the son of Chasper Pult and Lola, nee Küng. Growing up in Sent in the Lower Engadine , he studied Romance studies in Zurich , Geneva and Paris , graduated with a teaching diploma and received his doctorate in 1947 with a thesis on "The designation for glaciers and avalanches in the Alps".

Pult taught at the Lyceum Alpinum Zuoz , at the Samedan Evangelical College (today's Academia Engiadina ), at the Bündner Kantonsschule and at the Chur teachers' seminar , the forerunner of the Graubünden University of Education .

Pult worked for 30 years as one of the founders at Radio e Televisiun Rumantscha . He also presided over the Uniun dals Grischs , the language association of the Ladin-speaking valleys. He served the Lia Rumantscha as secretary.

He maintained extensive correspondence a. a. with Cla Biert , Luisa Famos and Tista Murk .
