Jonas Sandqvist (born May 6, 1981 ) is a Swedish football player . The goalkeeper , who has been under contract in Sweden, Norway, Greece and Iceland in his career so far, made his debut for the Swedish national team in 2005 .

Career

Sandqvist started playing football at Borlunda AIF . In 1997, the goalkeeper went to third division club Lunds BK , where he only stayed a year. From 1998 he was then under contract with the second division Landskrona BoIS . In 2002 he rose with the club to the Allsvenskan and was able to establish himself as a regular goalkeeper in the first division in the 2004 season . The result was an invitation to the Swedish national team before the start of the following season. While he was Eddie Gustafsson's substitute when he first played against the national team in 2005 , he came on January 27, 2005 for his only appearance in the national team's jersey to date. In the 0-0 draw against Mexico , he was able to keep his goal clean with strong reflexes.

After he knew how to convince in the 2005 season , he was signed by Malmö FF . At first he was only intended as a substitute for the former national goalkeeper Mattias Asper , but was able to displace him during the 2006 season , so that he moved to Viking FK in Norway. In the 2007 season he was in all 26 games between the posts of the traditional club, after a few worse games in the following season he was temporarily replaced by Dušan Melichárek . Ultimately, he fought his way back to the regular place between the posts before the 2009 season , but after he could not agree with the club on an extension of the contract, which was running out at the end of the season, he decided to leave the club and was replaced by Johan Dahlin from FC Lyn Oslo replaced.

In December of that year he moved to Greece to Atromitos Athens in the Super League . He signed a two and a half year contract with the newcomer. Although he received the number "1", behind Chrisostomos Michailidis , he was only left with the role of substitute for the first division club. In early December 2010, the club signed the French-Cameroonian goalkeeper Charles Itandje , whereupon the contract with Sandqvist was terminated.

Sandqvist moved to Norway, where he joined Aalesunds FK in the Tippeligaen at the end of March and signed a contract until the end of the 2011 season. There he was only a substitute behind Sten Grytebust and remained in the highest Norwegian league for the entire season, only for the club's second substitute. Without his participation, the club won the national cup in the fall . A short time later he returned to his home country and joined Örebro SK . Acted as the successor to John Alvbåge , who had migrated to Gothenburg , he was also in goal at the season opener against Åtvidabergs FF . After the 3-4 defeat, he immediately vacated the place in favor of Canadian Tomer Chencinski , but returned after a series of poor performances by the competitor and several defeats on matchday 10 between the posts. The 2012 season, however, was still unsuccessful and in the summer coach Sixten Boström was relieved of his duties and replaced by Per-Ola Ljung . When relegation manifested itself a few game days before the end of the season, Ljung again put Chencinski in goal as a prospective player for the second division. A few days after the end of the season it became known that ÖSK manager Magnus Sköldmark would be looking for a new club together with the player's agent despite the current contract. Ultimately, the search for a club was initially unsuccessful, but at the end of April 2013 both sides agreed to terminate the existing contract.

In March 2014 Sandqvist found a new club with the Icelandic club Keflavík ÍF .
