biography

Nordbotten competed in his first FIS races in December 2004, his first appearances in the European Cup followed in February 2006. He scored points for the first time on December 4, 2007 with 16th place in the giant slalom in Geilo . This result is still his best in the European Cup to this day. He achieved better results at the Junior World Championships , in which he participated from 2006 to 2009. In 2006 he finished ninth in slalom and two years later sixth in slalom and fifth in combination. In 2007 he failed to achieve a top result due to a failure in the second slalom run. In the first run he was still on the medal course as third. At his last Junior World Championship in 2009 , Nordbotten had no result after failures in slalom and giant slalom. His results at the Norwegian championships were even better . In 2006, 2007 and 2008 he was runner-up in slalom and in 2009 runner-up in downhill. In March 2010, he won his first Norwegian championship title by winning the slalom.

Nordbotten has been studying at the University of Vermont in the United States since summer 2010 . He now takes part mainly in races in North America and starts in the Nor-Am Cup instead of the European Cup . In this racing series he achieved better results than in the European Cup from the start. He won the slalom classification with two victories in Panorama and Val Saint-Côme in the 2010/11 season and came seventh overall. In the 2011/2012 season he achieved a win and another podium in slalom, this time he was second in the discipline and seventh in the overall classification. On December 8, 2011, Nordbotten was used for the first time in the World Cup in the Beaver Creek slalom , but was eliminated in the first round. On January 24th, 2012 he won his first World Cup points by finishing 23rd in the night slalom on the Planai in Schladming . His best result so far is 20th place in the Schladming slalom on January 28, 2014. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he won the bronze medal in the team competition without having played himself.
