José Antonio Pérez Sánchez

José Antonio Pérez Sánchez OFM (born December 20, 1947 in Mexico City - † July 8, 2020 in Tepic ) was a Mexican religious and Roman Catholic prelate of Jesus María del Nayar .

Life

José Antonio Pérez Sánchez studied humanities at the Colegio Seráfico Antoniano in San Agustín de Casillas, Jal, Guadalajara. He joined the order of the Franciscans and studied philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy in the Franciscan Province in the western state of Jalisco. He then studied theology at the Vatican International Seminary and completed a degree in Biblical theology at the Pontifical Antonianum in Rome. He was ordained a priest on June 20, 1976 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him on February 2, 1990 as coadjutor prelate of Jesús María del Nayar. The Apostolic Delegate in Mexico , Girolamo Prigione , ordained him episcopal on April 4th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Juan Jesús Posadas Ocampo , Archbishop of Guadalajara , and Manuel Romero Arvizu OFM, Prelate of Jesús María del Nayar.

After the resignation of Manuel Romero Arvizus OFM he succeeded him as prelate of Jesús María del Nayar. Pope Benedict XVI accepted his early resignation on February 27, 2010.
