José Aparecido Hergesse

José Aparecido Hergesse OTheat (born July 15, 1957 in Paranapanema ) has been General Procurator of the Theatines to the Holy See , Consultor General and President of the community life of the secular Theatine family since 2010 .

Life

After preparatory studies, he joined the Theatiners, with whom he took his religious vows on May 7, 1983. He studied philosophy at the Philosophical Faculty of the São Bento Monastery in São Paulo and theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome . He was ordained a priest on January 26, 1985 . He received a licentiate in theology from the Pontifical Faculty of Theology Nossa Senhora da Assunção in the Archdiocese of São Paulo and a licentiate in Biblical Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.

He held the following positions: parish vicar of Fartura in the diocese of Ourinhos and rector of the boys' seminary (1985–1987), pastor of São Geraldo and Regens of the seminary (1987–1990), pastor of Fartura (1992–1994), parish vicar in São Domingo da Prata in the diocese of Itabira-Fabriciano (1995–1997), professor at the seminary, pastor in Taquarituba (1998–2007), vicar general of the diocese of Itapeva (2001–2007), provincial of the Theatines in Brazil (2001–2004), pastor of the parish of São Paulo Lucas in the Archdiocese of Sorocaba (2007–2009), Professor of Biblical Theology and Spiritual at the Archbishopric Seminary (2007–2009).

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on May 4, 2011 auxiliary bishop in Vitória and titular bishop of Assava . As a motto he chose Ut ministraret . Before his episcopal ordination , which was to take place on June 25, 2011, he resigned on June 9, 2011 due to health reasons of his mother.
