José Benedito Cardoso

José Benedito Cardoso (born September 12, 1961 in Angatuba , São Paulo , Brazil ) is a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in São Paulo .

Life

José Benedito Cardoso studied from 1981 at the seminary in Sorocaba and at the Theological Institute in São Paulo . On November 23, 1986, he received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Sorocaba . With the establishment of the diocese of Itapetininga on April 15, 1998, he was incardinated in its clergy .

In 1987 he worked as a pastor in Alambari and from 1988 until his appointment as auxiliary bishop as a pastor in Itapetininga. After further studies, he earned a degree in civil law and in the Faculty of Canon Law , the licentiate in canon law. In the diocese of Itapetininga he was chancellor of the diocesan curia from 1998 to 2010 and the reign of the seminary from 2004 to 2006 . In addition, he was a judge at the supra-diocesan church court in Sorocaba for several years. Since 2012 he has been Vicar General of the Itapetininga Diocese. He was chairman of the diocesan court and was a member of the priestly council and the college of consultors of the diocese.

On 23 January 2019 it appointed Pope Francis to the titular bishop of Castellum minus and auxiliary bishop in Sao Paulo. The Archbishop of São Paulo, Odilo Pedro Cardinal Scherer , donated him episcopal ordination on March 15 of the same year . Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Itapetininga , Gorgônio Alves da Encarnação Neto OTheat , and the Bishop of Paranaguá , Edmar Peron .
